Dr. Jeffrey Paul Powell

Dr. Powell was born and raised in Queens, New York. He went to Holy Cross High School in Flushing and went on to study Biology, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. Dr. Powell had the privilege of being accepted into the Dental Program at Georgetown University in Washington DC, where he received his degree in Dentistry in the last class before the dental school was closed in 1990. While at Georgetown, Dr. Powell was elected by his peers to serve as the final Student Body President.

Dr. Powell completed the postgraduate course in Periodontics for General Practitioners at Albert Einstein Hospital in the Bronx and studied Full Mouth Reconstruction in a postgraduate course at New York University School of Dentistry. He continually pursues his postgraduate education studying the latest procedures in all facets dentistry.

Dr. Powell practiced in Long Island for 6 years before joining his uncle, Dr. Carmen Giuffre, our practice founder, and cousin, Dr. Michele Giuffre, and Dr. Diane Mears in 1998 here in Elmwood Park. Dr. Powell continues the family dentistry tradition and uncompromising principles that Dr. Giuffre set as the practice standard when he began in 1958.

In his spare time, Dr. Powell enjoys music, especially concerts, history, talk radio, being with his family, and spending time with his golden retriever, Dylan.

Dr. Michele Giuffre Shore

“Dr. Michele”, as she is known to her patients, just celebrated her 27th year in dentistry. Prior to entering dental school, she graduated from Neumann Prep High School in Wayne as a member of the National Honor Society, then went on to attend Marist College and Fairleigh Dickenson University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree.

Dr. Michele received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (DMD) in 1988 from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry where she received Top Honor Awards in Restorative, Pediatric, and Prosthodontic Dentistry, and a Teaching Fellowship in Restorative Dentistry. She was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the highest honor awarded to a graduating senior for academic and clinical excellence.

Along with her love of the sciences, Dr. Michele also studied and excelled in fine art, sculpture, and design. Her artistic ability and eye for balance, color, esthetics, and detail has contributed to her talent and skill as a Cosmetic and Restorative Dentist. She continually pursues her postgraduate education and training in the latest treatments, procedures, and technology in Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry as well as in Implant, Laser, Prosthodontic, TMJ, Periodontic, Endodontic, and Digital Dentistry. She also achieved her certification in CEREC inlay, onlay, and crown restorations.

Inspired by her father, Dr. Carmen Giuffre, who started the practice over 50 years ago and retired in 2006, Dr. Michele shares her passion with her associates, Dr. Diane Mears and Dr. Jeffrey Powell, with whom she has been practicing with for over 25 and 17 years, respectively.

When Dr. Michele is not designing smiles, she enjoys designing her own line of jewelry, studying and practicing good health and nutrition, traveling and spending time with her family and friends, and raising her two sons along with their mini Goldendoodle. She is very active in many charitable and civic organizations.

Dr. Michele, known for her compassionate and gentle manner, together with a highly trained exceptional staff, ensures that all her patients have a positive and pleasant experience.

Dr. Diane Mears Ghinelli, DMD

Dr. Mears was raised in Livingston, New Jersey and graduated high school from Mt. St. Dominics Academy. She was inspired into the field of dentistry by her uncle who is an General Dentist in Alaska. She attended University of Pennsylvania where she received her undergraduate degree in Dental Hygiene. In 1990, Dr. Mears received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she received numerous Honors and Awards including the following:

Certificate of Merit - Society of Dentistry for Children

Quintessence Award Certificate - Restorative Dentistry

Certificate of Merit - Fixed Partial Dentures

Fellowships in both Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry

She also served as class secretary and on various dental committees at FDU. She completed her one year residency at Bergen Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Mears achieved her goal of diversified professional experience by working in several dental offices specializing in a variety of dental treatment fields while completing hundreds of hours of post graduate dental studies in the fields of: Periodontal, Prosthetics, Endondontics, Dental Lasers, Pedodontics & Micro-abrasion, Mandibular Orthodontics, Oral Health & Aging, Medical Emergencies, etc. She joined membership in numerous dental associations including: American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Bergen County Dental Association, Advanced General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and American Academy of Cosmetic Orthodontics.

In 1994, she was excited to join the quality dental practice of Drs. Carmen and Michele Giuffre, where she shared a strong belief in high quality, comprehensive dental treatment. in a friendly team-driven environment that meets patient budgetary constraints. In 1998, Dr. Jeffrey Powell joined them and now runs the practice, a friendly, team-driven practice that meets all the needs of their patients.

In 2011, Dr Mears achieved certification as an Invisalign provider in Orthodontics. She considers herself blessed to work in this dental practice where the entire staff teams-up to work like a close knit family providing the very best quality of dental care available.

Outside the office she is also family oriented, raising three wonderful children. They all enjoy family activities, many valued friends, music, hiking, sports, and physical exercise.
